We are currently seeking a highly skilled Kurdish Linguist to join our mission-driven team. This position requires a language professional capable of performing a wide range of complex linguistic tasks with precision and cultural insight.

\n

\n

What You’ll Do:

\n

You will provide professional-level linguistic support across translation, interpretation, transcription , and Gisting including but not limited to:

\n

\n

Translation

\n

\n
• \n

  Accurately translate materials (both digital and hard copy) from Kurdish into English and vice versa.

\n
• \n

  Capture subtle nuances, cultural references, and abstract concepts with contextual accuracy.

\n
• \n

  Capture geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural references effectively.

\n
• \n

  Use terminology and expression consistent with subject matter norms in the target language.

\n

\n

\n

Interpretation

\n

\n
• \n

  Provide consecutive interpretation ; simultaneous interpretation may occasionally be required.

\n
• \n

  Maintain high fidelity and fluency, demonstrating understanding of regional dialects and cultural context.

\n

\n

\n

Transcription

\n

\n
• \n

  Listen to audio or review internet-based content and transcribe accurately and efficiently.

\n
• \n

  Produce high-quality English-language reports based on audio/visual materials .

\n
• \n

  Demonstrate nuanced understanding of dialectical variations.

\n

\n

\n

Gisting and Summarization

\n

\n
• \n

  Identify and summarize key facts and abstract concepts accurately.

\n
• \n

  Prioritize and extract critical information from large datasets.

\n
• \n

  Use reference materials effectively to support quality output .

\n

\n

\n

Security Clearance:

\n

\n
• \n

  A TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required (must be fully adjudicated before work begins).

\n

\n

\n

Qualifications:

\n

\n
• \n

  BA/BS and/or equivalent formal military training and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

\n
• \n

  Translation and/or interpretation degree is highly desired

\n
• \n

  HLT experience a plus

\n
• \n

  Must successfully complete a Leidos-administered language proficiency test or equivalent at the Primary level or higher .

\n
• \n

  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic online research.

\n
• \n

  All candidates must take and pass language tests administered by LEIDOS/an accepted commercial testing vendor. 

\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

\n
• \n

  Experience supporting contingency operations as a deployed linguist.

\n
• \n

  Familiarity with the U.S. Intelligence Community, military operations, or law enforcement environments.

\n
• \n

  Ability to effectively brief and communicate findings to various stakeholders.

\n
• \n

  Proficiency in multiple languages is a strong asset.

\n

Additional Information:

  Attending and passing all sponsor related training is a requirement of employment.

\n
• \n

  All Candidates must take and successfully pass a medical laboratory and/or physical screen as required by the program.

\n
• \n

  Successfully completing the required language assessments.

\n
• \n

  Successfully completing the required weapons training.

\n
• \n

  Travel OCONUS is required. Candidate must be able to support the contract 24/7 when on travel.

Pay Range: Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00\n

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
